Mitolo Angela McLaren Vale Shiraz 2022

The Mitolo Angela Shiraz 2022 is a refined and expressive red wine that pays homage to Angela, the matriarch of the Mitolo family. Sourced from the Sandra’s Block vineyard in McLaren Vale, this Shiraz showcases the region's unique terroir, characterized by Biscay clays and alluvial clay loams, which contribute to the wine's depth and complexity. 

In the glass, it presents a deep ruby hue. The bouquet is perfumed with lifted blue fruits, red berry compote, creamy nuances, and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, it is plush and elegant, displaying flavors of satsuma plum, ripe raspberry, and blueberry, framed by silky tannins with a fine texture. Delicate flickers of fresh herbs add savory elements, leading to a poised and balanced finish, enhanced by vibrant acidity.

The 2022 vintage underwent meticulous winemaking processes: the fruit was destemmed and crushed into 8-tonne open and static fermenters, with twice-daily pump-overs to retain fruit vibrancy and ensure a soft tannin structure. Fermentation temperatures were maintained between 20–24°C. Post-fermentation, the wine was transferred to 25% new French, 5% new American, and 70% seasoned oak hogshead barrels for 16 months, allowing it to develop
