Full Product Description
Benanti Etna Rosso DOC 2021 is a refined Sicilian red wine from the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna. Produced by Benanti, one of the most respected names in Etna wine, this red captures the region’s signature combination of red fruit, savoury earth, mineral freshness, and elegant structure.
Benanti’s Etna Rosso is made from a traditional blend of Nerello Mascalese around 80%–85% and Nerello Cappuccio around 15%–20%, with grapes selected from vineyards on the north, south-east, and south-west slopes of Mount Etna. The vines grow on sandy volcanic soils rich in minerals, which help give the wine its distinctive freshness, salinity, and mineral edge.
The wine shows a pale ruby red colour and opens with an ethereal, intense nose of red fruits. On the palate, it is dry, balanced, medium-bodied, and mineral, with pleasant acidity, saline notes, red fruit character, and a persistent finish. Wine Enthusiast’s 2021 review also notes earthy volcanic character, cranberry, hibiscus, cherry, fennel, herbs, bitter citrus, acidity, and dusty tannins.
This is a great choice for customers looking for an elegant Italian red that is lighter and fresher than many full-bodied reds, but still complex and food-friendly. Serve it with grilled meats, lamb chops, roast pork, Italian sausages, tomato-based pasta, mushroom risotto, charcuterie, and matured cheese.

Serving Suggestion
Serve slightly cool at around 16°C–18°C. Benanti’s technical sheet recommends 18°C–19°C, but for Hong Kong’s warmer climate, serving slightly cooler first can help preserve freshness and mineral character. Open 20–30 minutes before drinking to let the red fruit, earthy herbs, saline minerality, and Etna volcanic character become more expressive.
