Full Product Description

Barone Ricasoli Chianti Classico DOCG Castello di Brolio Gran Selezione 2021 is a flagship Tuscan red wine from Chianti Classico DOCG Gran Selezione, produced by the historic Barone Ricasoli estate at Castello di Brolio. This wine represents one of the estate’s most prestigious bottlings and is made only in selected vintages from carefully chosen estate-grown grapes. Ricasoli describes Castello di Brolio as its flagship wine, created from grapes selected from the most representative soils in Brolio.

The official Ricasoli technical sheet lists the 2021 vintage as 100% Sangiovese, from vineyards planted between 1994 and 2005, at 400–490 metres above sea level, with south and southwest exposure. The wine is linked to the Gaiole area of Chianti Classico and reflects three important Brolio soil types, including Galestro and Alberese-influenced soils.

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red colour with a refined and complex aromatic profile. Expect red cherry, ripe red fruit, cedar, tobacco, white pepper, incense, dried herbs, savoury spice, and subtle earthy notes. Vinous describes the 2021 Castello di Brolio as bright, complex, energetic, and one of the finest editions tasted, with 94 points noted in retail excerpts.

On the palate, it is elegant and structured, with fresh acidity, concentrated Sangiovese fruit, firm polished tannins, savoury depth, and a long refined finish. This is a great choice for customers looking for a premium Chianti Classico Gran Selezione with classic Tuscan character, strong ageing potential, and excellent food-pairing versatility.
