Full Product Description
Niebaum-Pennino Edizione Pennino Zinfandel 2022 is a premium Napa Valley red wine from Rutherford, produced by Niebaum-Pennino. The wine honors Francis Ford Coppola’s maternal grandfather, Francesco Pennino, and the name “Edizione” means “edition” in Italian, making this the estate’s “Pennino Edition” of Zinfandel. The producer notes that historic Morisoli and Werle Zinfandel clones play an important role in the wine’s character.
The 2022 vintage is made from 95% Zinfandel, 4% Primitivo, and 1% Petite Sirah, from the Rutherford, Napa Valley appellation. It has 14.8% ABV and is aged for 18 months in oak: 10% new French oak, 55% neutral French oak, 15% new American oak, and 20% neutral American oak.
In the glass, it opens with soft raspberry, coconut, and a hint of spice. The palate is balanced and easy to drink, with soft, well-integrated tannins, smooth texture, nicely balanced alcohol, fresh herbal notes, and a delicate oolong tea note on the finish. The producer describes the 2022 vintage as dry overall, with Zinfandel thriving in the warm closing part of the season and harvest running from September 6 to September 11.
This is a strong choice for customers looking for a polished Napa Zinfandel with generous fruit, smooth tannins, and enough freshness for food pairing. Serve it with BBQ meats, burgers, roast pork, grilled lamb, steak, pizza, tomato-based pasta, spicy dishes, charcuterie, hard cheese, and casual premium dinners.

Serve at around 16°C–18°C. Open 30–45 minutes before drinking to let the raspberry, dark fruit, coconut, spice, herbs, and oak notes become more expressive. This wine works especially well with smoky BBQ dishes, grilled meats, and rich tomato-based food.
